Xinghua Sun (pen name: Duoshi)
Creator of Novoland, World Architect & Narrative Director
(Writer, mythmaker, cosmology designer, and one of the “Seven Gods” of Novoland)
Xinghua Sun is a Chinese-American author and narrative systems designer who has lived in San Diego since 1994. A cultural bridge-builder and worldbuilder at heart, he is one of the original seven creators of Novoland—China’s most influential Eastern fantasy universe.
Under his pen name “Duoshi,” Sun was part of the core creative team behind Novoland from Day Zero, co-developing its philosophical structure, cultural logic, and interwoven mythologies. Alongside six other legendary authors, he is revered as one of the “Seven Gods” of the Novoland universe.
Over the past 25 years, Sun has remained a prolific force in speculative fiction, with two screenplays, two books, and seven stories published in China’s leading sci-fi and fantasy journals—including Science Fiction World, Fantasy World, and Novoland Magazine—reaching a combined readership of 30 million. His debut novel was published on QingYun, China’s first major online literature platform.
His writing fuses classical Chinese thought with Western narrative pacing, allowing him to create complex, multi-civilizational worlds grounded in myth, energy systems, and existential stakes. In Ten Suns ARPG, Sun leads the worldbuilding and core story direction, designing the metaphysics, civilizations, energy structure, and character arcs that form the soul of the experience.
As both a foundational voice in Eastern fantasy and a longtime resident of the West, Sun is uniquely positioned to bridge the mythological depth of Chinese storytelling with globally resonant gameplay and narrative design. His vision lies at the heart of Ten Suns’ ambition: to create an authentically Chinese fantasy world that speaks fluently to players around the globe.
